Habitants – One Self
HABITANTS was brought to life by René Rutten (The Gathering) and his wife Gema Perèz. And in Anne van den Hoogen (Rosemary & Garlic) they have a singer who matches a dark film noir sound with airy, clear vocals. Mirte Heutmekers (bass) and Jerôme Miedendorp de Bie (Drive by Wire, drums) complete the band.
The sound of HABITANTS is reminiscent of the 80s, it is built around electric guitars that give a dreamy, yet analogue feel. Think Dead Can Dance or Cocteau Twins, but any comparison is difficult to make. All 9 songs on ONE SELF are overwhelming landscapes in which it is a matter of discovery. ONE SELF is a dark shoegaze album, mixed by Guido Aalbers and mastered by Maor Appelbaum of Maor Appelbaum Mastering in California, USA.
