If Shaking Godspeed has learned one thing after the unprecedentedly received album AWE, it is that neither 9 stars on nu.nl, nor 92 out of 100 points in UP Magazine, nor ‘you won’t get much better than this in the Netherlands’ ( OOR) offers any guarantee on airplay and stadium concerts. That was a good thing, because that was never the trio’s ambition and it meant a license to follow their own instincts even more closely on successor Hooray. Recorded – on tape – in a shed in the Achterhoek, where the experience of more than 200 performances in a year and a half in French and Spanish broom closets, at major festivals such as Sziget, Appelpop and Zwarte Cross and their own national headline tour resonates.
